What's a tell?
A tell is the small sign that gives a scam away. You can't always spot the fake — but you can always spot the tell. However flawless the fake looks, every con behaves the same way: it creates urgency, demands secrecy, makes an unusual request, and pressures you not to check with anyone.
Pause.
Urgency is the oldest trick. Nothing legitimate collapses if you wait five minutes.
Verify.
Contact the person or organization directly through a channel you know is real. Not the one they gave you.
Don't Get Played.
You've caught the scam. You know the tell.

About the Campaign
A national cybersecurity awareness campaign led by the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), the official regulator of cybersecurity in Dubai and guardian of the city's cyberspace, throughout October 2026, in line with Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The campaign empowers individuals and families across Dubai to recognize and stop scams before falling victim to them.
Through partnerships and collaborations, we're bringing organizations across different sectors together to deliver cyber awareness into every day spaces where the community already gathers. The campaign leads the charge in a five-week episodic reveal of scam archetypes, teaching the public that while they can't always spot the fake, they can always spot the tell.
